The 13th Post!

Hello everyone!
Hows it goin?

Well yes I know it has been a while since I last posted however things have been very busy at work and at home. We have been flat out with Kiwi Kitchen and some corporate videos but it has been all very good indeed. The busy times at home have been around Michelle's 21st and of course our engagement, yup me and Chelle are getting married!

A very simliar engagement ring to the one I gave Chelle, cept the rock in the middle a bit smaller!

So since the engagement we have been trying to organise the wedding, getting the venue, wedding party and other things organised. When my mother was up she took me and Chelle to the wedding expo, it was interesting the best parts for me was the chocolate fountain, the tasty cakes to sample and my favourite: grilled the wedding video makers, asking them what programs and equipment they use and all the questions a non video person wouldn't ask them.

The chocolate fountain at the expo was very tasty indeed!

Probably the most benifitial aspect of the whole trip was knowing that a wedding singer for the wedding was not an option, they were all so horrible and cheesy. One of the wedding singer groups was called 'Almost Famous' and there is a good reason why they never became famous.

Almost Famous? Well enough said

We also looked into wedding vehicles, there was a few different wedding car companys there, mostly stocked fords which I found rather interesting. Many of the companies swarm around you trying to get your money, one of the dudes was real full on and was like when is your wedding and all that stuff. I looked at him and said "Sorry don't want a ford, got any aston martins?" He looked at me and said "Why would you want one of them? They will only fall apart and thats even if you can get it started" By this time I wasn't considering this rude man at all I said to him "Well thats your opinion" and walked off, what a try hard put me off wedding cars to be honest.

Aston Martin - The only way to roll to your wedding :)

So after all the craziness of the expo I don't think that I'm actually that much further along in our plans for the wedding however I guess that it will all come together in in time :) Well I think thats all for now, hope all is well with you guys :)

Catch ya later

The 12th Post - Wild Wellington

The Epicness of Richard, Neil & Doug

Hey guys well, last week was quite an adventure, I headed to Wellington to go to my Cousins wedding but of course a trip to Wellington wouldn't be complete without going to catch up with the DVPP kids Neil Mayo and Richard Lord, of course the first thing to do was to strike a super hero pose, then we got down to a tasty meal that Richard and Danali had made for us, thanks guys! While they were sorting out desert me and Neil boosted down to the local store to pick up our fix - Coronas, M & Ms and pretzels :) they were tasty. By the time we got back desert was waiting for us and boy was it good :)

What started out as a normal night of M & Ms and beers turned nasty!

It wasn't long til the beer was cracked open and the M & Ms were flying and the night began to go either up or down hill depending on which side of the bottle you were on, as you can see below Neil, was very pleased that there was an abundant supply of M & Ms for all.

Neil looking a little too happy with his M & Ms

Then suddenly things started to deteriorate, Neil tipped his M & Ms onto the table and started to snort M & Ms and by the time he successfully snorted a couple up the roughly rolled $100 note he turned into another being....................

The night taking a horrible turn for the worst

A Hulkish Neil now under the control of the M & Ms, started throwing Coronas into the freezer and yelling absurdaties about how they don't freeze until you slam them down on a hard surface and then they freeze as if a super hero has touched it. Of course I disputed his claim which Neil didn't like at all, he jumped up and all hell broke loose, I jumped up and tried to restrain him, whilst trying to do so my camera accidentally went off, below is the M & M fuelled Neil which I was trying to stop.

What Neil was at that time was not human

Fortunately, not long after all of us being caught in a triangle of terror someone mentioned DVDs and things started to get back to normality. The next thing I knew it was 6.30am and we all had to get up and catch a train into central Wellington, it was evident that it was a common occurance for Richard and Neil as they didn't look so enthused.

Richard and Neil really excited about the train trip into Wellington

By this time I think Richard was disowning me :)

I myself found the train ride to be great fun and was especially excited when the ticket man came around for your tickets, it seemed that Neil however just stoked to have a ticket that he could show off the Chicks when he got into the city!

Neil was so stoked with is new ticket to pull chicks

After reaching the station and navigatng our way through the thousands of people bustling through the station, I went back to Neils new crib and he cooked me some toast, it was great toast by the way Neil, bigups! Then Neil showed me around his new work place, Blue Bicycle Flicks, very cool indeed! Then I walked down to see Richards work, it was great to see his work however I knew it was time to leave the city and head to the event that I had travelled far and wide for. On my way out of the city I got to catch a glimpse of the Camera/Tripod monument which is dedicated to the Film/Television industry in New Zealand, very cool I thought!

The Camera/Tripod monument was very cool!

The wedding was great fun, got to see alot of my family and have massive yarns about life, food and stuff in general, my cousin looked very happy and I am very pleased for her and her new Husband James, it was a fun day all together!!!!!

My Cousin's wedding was great fun

And hence this brings me to the end of this epic trip to Wild Wellington, I saw many sights, ate many M & Ms and told many yarns, enough said.

Hope everyone is well and having a super week!

Stay classy!

The 11th Post - The EPIC UPDATE!

Me, Rich and Neil at our DVPP BBQ at Christmas

Hey guys!
Hows it goin?
Yes I know its nearly been a year since I have updated this blog and I'm sorry about that, I have no excuses apart from I just didn't have the time to do it any more. This has changed however and I'm going to do my upmost to keep it up to date from now on.

So whats been happening in the last few months? Well quite a bit actually. I have continued through my internship at Gogglebox Productions and in nine days I will be finsihed, rather exciting. Also me and Michelle have now been together for over a year which is crazy cause it only feels like a couple of months we have been together. My older brother Pete is now engaged and is getting married next february, Casino Royale came out and was so epic I enjoyed it so much I really wanna see it a fifth time but whether I can before it finishes is another story all together.

An epic Teaser Poster of Casino Royale

I did have a very good Christmas and holiday, I went home to see the folks and on my way down the Civic decided to slip its clutch which forced me to break down in Timaru of all places, only two days before I had taken it into the garage to get a wheel bearing replaced so it was like the Civic was getting way too many Christmas presents that year. In the end I came to a hard decision: To sell the Civic and buy a new car, thats right I have new wheels! I managed to get a 1997 Honda Prelude for a very nice price indeed so it feels like a very EPIC upgrade!

Pedro the night before he was shipped off to Auckland

My flatmates have also changed, Marcus got married and Crowther headed to Germany to fix watches etc. What happened to Pedro? He has travelled to Auckland to be with Crowther's younger brother Elliot, so I'm sure hes having fun there, we do miss him though.

I have also posted some of my videos on YOUTUBE if you want to go check them out go to: http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=jb00784

Thats all for now, but I will update more frequently than I used to, hope all is well!

The 10th Post

Greetings from the South!
Hows it going guys?
Well things have been going well for me, I got the whole of Queens Birthday off work so I was able to rock down to my homeland - Winton Southland which was just fantastic!
This was great not only because I was going down to see my family but also because Chelle was able to come down as well, it made the trip much more enjoyable :)

Chelle and Dad feeding out hay to sheep

Chelle talking to the cows

So on Friday night about 7pm Chelle and I jumped into my mighty Honda Civic and we cruised all the way down to Thomson's Crossing. We arrived at about 02:13am to be greated by my Dad, he always waits up for us when we come down :) We then proceeded to sleep through till about 11:30am Saturday (driving 7 hours takes it outta you!) After a good old southland lunch me and Chelle went out to help Dad on the farm for a while, feeding the sheep hay. Chelle said our farm was the second or third famr she had ever been to which I thought was interesting. After we got back from the farm we played singstar for a while then we went out for tea for my Dad's 50th, it was cool to see all my cousins and Uncles and Aunties and of course my grandparents. My auntie made my Dad a really cool cake which looked like a trout because my Dad loves fishing. After the meal we went bowling and that was great fun, however I didn't bowl very well, I think Richard and Danali's new daughter Sophie could have outbowled me :0

Dad's super cool cake

Then on the Sunday Chelle and I went to Church and then visited my Auntie and Uncle and then my Grandparents. Before dark I headed out duckshooting with my Dad and brother, we didn't see any Ducks though :( Before me and Chelle knew it, it was time to head home. We left for Christchurch around 10:00am and were dealed because of snow and heavy traffic on the roads. We did however manage to stop off at Moraki Boulders which was cool because all the times I have driven past I have never taken the time to stop and look.

Chelle checking out teh Moraki boulders

We arrived back in Christchurch at about 6:00pm, I dropped Chelle off and then went back to the flat to unpack, have a feed and then grab a few zzzzzzzs before I had to go to work :)
Hope you have enjoyed the story of my trip as much as I have enjoyed writing about it :)
Take care guys :)

Regards
Doug

Pedro stalking his prey behind the N64

P.S For those who are wondering how Pedro is, he is alive and well, he has now figured out that its great fun jumping on the bench and eating our food! He will learn its not so fun if we catch him there again. He loves it when visitors come over to see him and has made special friends with Dale and Chelle.

The 9th Post

Me after my interrigation scene

Hey guys whats goin on?
Well you may have noticed its been a while since my last post and I guess you may wonder why that is. In short to answer this I have either been working, filming or driving. Last week the 48 hour film completition was upon us and Dale, Neil and myself formed a team comprised of flatmates, classmates, churchmates and so on, with our powers combined we became EVIL MONKEY FILMS. We started off with a great team and Genre, we got the action genre which was right up our alley. All in all the shoot and script writing went well, our team devised an action comedy which was very cleverly written, once heard the script being delivered on the set I was cracking up continiously :)

Some of our team: Dale, Me, Neil, Diego and Mark (Missing was Timmy, he was asleep and Jeremy)

So how did we go you might ask? Well unfortunately even though we got the film finished in enough time our equipment let us down and we couldn't get the film to go to tape hence making us late for our delivery of the film to the judges, it was a very gutting moment for all of us involved, after spending so much time on the film it was not only a physically draining time but also emotionally draining as well.

Timmy absolutely stuffed after shooting the film

Anyway we got the film handed in even though it was a lil' late we still got it screened, to a very warm reception I might add, (many people were pleased we didn't make it in time because our film was sooooooooooooooo good yeah thats right we rock!
In other news Casino Royale is coming along nicely and the teaser trailer is looking pretty funky, also the offical website is now open for viewing at: http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/casinoroyale/site/

Well there is more news indeed but in fear of overloading you with info I'll leave it at that for the moment. Stay tunned in the next couple of days for the update and news of my trip down south for Queen's Bday!

Peace out!

Doug

The 8th Post

Well hows it goin guys? I know it has been a long time ( a month infact) since my last post and I guess business isn't really a good excuse when you see Lord Biggus pop out 3 posts in 3 concecutive days :) Well done once again Richard & Danali - Sophie is very very cool indeed.
about you can see a photo of part of the yard where I work at Hirequip in Johns Rd CHCH, its great times indeed :) If thats not magic enough heres another picture for you all to enjoy - an inside look at my counter job at HQ

This is where I spend most of my hours in a day, behind this counter serving happy customers who want to hire equipment to do cool stuff like chop down trees, mow lawns, strip wallpaper, paint fences, dig post holes, pick up broken cars, pump out flooded houses, drill holes in walls, move houses, flatten newly planted grass, waterblast down a roof, fix their toilet, repair ones gutters and all those really exciting things in life :) If you thought those were the perks of my job well, your wrong. The best thing by far is the money, sure I'm not exactely in the career I want at the moment but I have realised that its better to be employed and have a lil' money to throw at things you would like to get than be unemployed, broke and thinking why don't I have a job?

As you can see even working at HQ there is benefits, such as being able to get your favourite bands latest albums - All three of these new albums by Live, Pearl Jam & The Red Hot Chilli Peppers are all very good indeed, I have really enjoyed listening to them over the last few weeks :) I have also aquired a few new DVDs which is very good, the only trouble is that I haven't had the chance to watch them all yet :(

In the good news department quite a few cool things have happened, the coolest thing is that today was Michelle and my 3 month anniverary, so we went out for tea and stuff, it was rather nice indeed, Chelle is such an awesome girlfriend to me, she is just so supercool :)
Another cool thing is that my oldest Brother Pete has decided to marry his girlfriend Carrie, its pretty cool indeed, it was a bit of a shock I must admit but its very exciting as Pete asked me to be one of his groomsmen. They have penciled in a date in Feb 2008 so who knows what will have happened by then but its all cool :) Other cool news is that the 48 hr film comp is coming up and Dale, Neil and myself have pulled a team togther of mates, we have a had a couple of meetings regarding such things and everything is looking positive for that, which is next week so I guess the next post will be dedicated to the 48 hour :) Stay tuned, stay cool, stay classy

:) Doug :)

The 007th Post

Hello children! Hows it goin? I do hope you had a good Easter. No your eyes are not decieving you, I'm back in the grey and orange shirt, it seems that the Hirequip corporation are short on staff and they thought it would be a good idea to hire me again, so who am I to refuse?
Its not a bad deal, I get Fridays and Saturdays off apart from that its work at hirequip :) so I'm putting my funds together so I can get a new video camera I have decided as my panasonic handy cam is absolutely stuffed. My good old mate Neil at Sony is talking up some new camera that looks rather interesting. So what did you guys get up to during easter?
I had a very awesome time at Easter Camp covering the Event with the AV Crew, it was very fun indeed, not only did I get to edit all the highlights, I also got to shoot some of the highlights and also be a live camera operator for the meetings. It was a great experience because not only did I get to go to Easter Camp for free I also got to go what I love to do. The coolest thing was that both my Youth Group and my Girlfriend were there and thats a very cool thing indeed :)

My friend Caroline and My Girlfriend Michelle at Easter Camp

So what else has been happening the land of Doug you may be asking? Well it was Michelle's birthday the other day and that was nice, I went over to her place for tea and had a lovely meal it was very cool. Another really interesting thing that happened this week was that we seemed to have aquired a kitten. Yeah thats right a kitten! My flatmate Michael's parents came down and they brought a tiny kitten down by the name of Pedro, now you may ask why would you call a kitten pedro? well I will show you.

Yes he certainly is cool :) he is definatley worth voting for, if you vote for him he will make your wildest dreams come true :) He loves running round and seeing what is going on, ever since I started writing this post he has been sitting on my shoulder, see!!

However my favourite picture that I have of Pedro so far is one I took the first day he arrived, this photo reminds me of Salvester Stallone in Cliffhanger!!!! Hang in there baby!!!

He he he he that photo is sooooooooooo cooooooooooooooool!
Anyway thats really all from me at the moment, hope all is good with everyone!
By the way Danali - thanks for your lovely comments on my blog, may I extend to you the same words, your blog is very cool :) hope you and Mini Lord are well :)

Take it easy kids

Stay classy!

The Sixth Post

Hey guys!

Hows it goin? Hope your week has been as much fun as mine has been.
Well were should I start? I guess we should rewind a couple of days to last week to when I last posted. Last friday I had graduation with my old class at broadcasting school, it was very fun! I was of course getting my DVPP diploma, only one of my classmates from DVPP was there, a shame more of you couldn't turn out, Richard and Neil I know you were there in spirit! :)

The ceremony went for a very long time and of course some of it was boring however there was some cool bits. Also my family came up so it was all fun and games, they got to meet Michelle and her family so it was a busy and tiring weekend. My brother brought up some more playstation games for me to play, so I have not been bored this week :)

So the job front, whats new you may ask? Well rather interesting you may find, I got a call from Hirequip needing someone to fill in for a little while and you guessed it I have accepted. Only for a couple of weekends.

On another super cool note thanx to a super cool Biggus I landed myself a Nintendo 64 for free! It has 3 controllers and 4 games including mario cart, at this present moment 'm trying to win an auction on Goldeneye of course the game making having a nintendo a must!

Got Easter Camp next weekend so thats gonna be a heap of fun! I can't wait!
Um I think thats all for the moment, hope all is good wit u guys!

Stay Classy!
