The 007th Post

Hello children! Hows it goin? I do hope you had a good Easter. No your eyes are not decieving you, I'm back in the grey and orange shirt, it seems that the Hirequip corporation are short on staff and they thought it would be a good idea to hire me again, so who am I to refuse?
Its not a bad deal, I get Fridays and Saturdays off apart from that its work at hirequip :) so I'm putting my funds together so I can get a new video camera I have decided as my panasonic handy cam is absolutely stuffed. My good old mate Neil at Sony is talking up some new camera that looks rather interesting. So what did you guys get up to during easter?
I had a very awesome time at Easter Camp covering the Event with the AV Crew, it was very fun indeed, not only did I get to edit all the highlights, I also got to shoot some of the highlights and also be a live camera operator for the meetings. It was a great experience because not only did I get to go to Easter Camp for free I also got to go what I love to do. The coolest thing was that both my Youth Group and my Girlfriend were there and thats a very cool thing indeed :)

So what else has been happening the land of Doug you may be asking? Well it was Michelle's birthday the other day and that was nice, I went over to her place for tea and had a lovely meal it was very cool. Another really interesting thing that happened this week was that we seemed to have aquired a kitten. Yeah thats right a kitten! My flatmate Michael's parents came down and they brought a tiny kitten down by the name of Pedro, now you may ask why would you call a kitten pedro? well I will show you.



Yes he certainly is cool :) he is definatley worth voting for, if you vote for him he will make your wildest dreams come true :) He loves running round and seeing what is going on, ever since I started writing this post he has been sitting on my shoulder, see!!


However my favourite picture that I have of Pedro so far is one I took the first day he arrived, this photo reminds me of Salvester Stallone in Cliffhanger!!!! Hang in there baby!!!

The Sixth Post

Hey guys!

Hows it goin? Hope your week has been as much fun as mine has been.
Well were should I start? I guess we should rewind a couple of days to last week to when I last posted. Last friday I had graduation with my old class at broadcasting school, it was very fun! I was of course getting my DVPP diploma, only one of my classmates from DVPP was there, a shame more of you couldn't turn out, Richard and Neil I know you were there in spirit! :)


The ceremony went for a very long time and of course some of it was boring however there was some cool bits. Also my family came up so it was all fun and games, they got to meet Michelle and her family so it was a busy and tiring weekend. My brother brought up some more playstation games for me to play, so I have not been bored this week :)



So the job front, whats new you may ask? Well rather interesting you may find, I got a call from Hirequip needing someone to fill in for a little while and you guessed it I have accepted. Only for a couple of weekends.




On another super cool note thanx to a super cool Biggus I landed myself a Nintendo 64 for free! It has 3 controllers and 4 games including mario cart, at this present moment 'm trying to win an auction on Goldeneye of course the game making having a nintendo a must!

Got Easter Camp next weekend so thats gonna be a heap of fun! I can't wait!

The Fifth Post

A big shout out to all my bros and bro-ettes! Hope all is well in the land of you guys :)
I think you may find the following post will reflect my mood at the moment - quite happy, no I don't have a job yet but I have found great satisfaction in the work I have been doing this last week, editing Dale's film 'Fall To Earth' and of course making the weekly videos for Church such as 'Don't Do That Timmy' and 'Knowing Me, Knowing Your Youth Leader'. Its amazing how much easier it is to be unemployed when your working hard out the whole time :)

So what else has been happening lately in the world of Doug you may ask?
Um well lets see, on Tuesday I delivered 7 showreels of mine to 7 different media related companies, haven't heard from any of them yet but am gonna get on to them this week.
Also I have another potential leads for a job so hears to hearing back from them :)
Another real cool thing is that Go East Productions is announcing the long awaited release of 'Hostile Takeover' a feature film that was started in 2001. All the components that are needed to finish the film have finally arrived so stay tunned for the offical release date.

Something coming up is my graduation from DVPP, now as far as I know I'm the only one in my class who is going to the ceremony, however the cool thing is that my old class from TV Block are graduating the same day so we can all be there together, my family are also coming up so it will be great fun.

The Fourth Post

Hey guys, hows it goin?

Well its been an emotional rollercoaster of a week for the old Dougster, after finding out that he didn't get the job with a certain production company he didn't quite know what to do, after a couple of days of quiet reflection (playing copious amounts of James Bond on playstation) he came to a revelation: That is to go back to the farm in southland and give up the whole video/film dream.....

Nah, just kidding! Actually I'm donning my Cammo and goin on a full out assualt to land an internship, poor Michelle - her boyfriend is an unemployed bum! Nah not really as I have got a lil' bit of paid work editing a short film for a mate so its all good :) I have also got another couple of job prospects within the next couple of weeks so all going well we will be sweet :)

Certain individuals have made it known that they are not impressed with the speed of some of these posts are arriving online. Well all I can say is that I'm sorry Biggus but yes I have been quite busy :) Not so many moonlit walks on the beach as you may think, I'm currently attempting to make 2 videos a week for church which can be demanding depending on how EPIC we choose for it to be.

In the upcoming events on the Doug Bulletin Board we have really only two things: One graduation, the Thomson Clan is coming up to witness their middle son recieve some sort of qualification, will be very good indeed to see em as I haven't since January. The other big event coming up is of course Easter Camp and thanks to the help of Sprooce I have been able to join the A/V team for it, its gonna be so much fun :)

The Third Post

Hey Guys!

Well here we are again, whats been happening this week?
I can't say that much has actually happened since the last post. As I mentioned in the last post I had an interview with Whitebait TV and they gave me some trial work to do. So last Monday to Wednesday I went in there and did what I needed to do. It was really cool in there, everyone was really nice and I had a great time working on the tasks I was set. The first day was a little daunting though but we got there in the end, Jason was cool he kept on calling me 'Big Guy' it was funny. Apart from being at Whitebait for the start of the week it was life as usual, Dale and Neil came around and we played Star Wars Trivial Pursuit, it was a blast. Of course there were a few heated discussions about some answers and a war nearly broke out but it was all good. I think thats all at the moment, stay tuned for the news on my job!

The Second Post

Hey guys! Hows it goin?
Well its been a very busy last couple of weeks for me, you may wonder how someone who is unemployed at the moment is flat out busy, I will tell you. I have been looking for a job that is suited to my degree which is Televsion/Film, there isn't much going on in Christchurch however. So I finished off my showreel and then got a phone call out of the blue from whitebait (they make what now?) and they wanted me to come in for an interview. I went in for the interview and showed them my show reel, then they decided to give me a few tasks to do for them, such as edting togther some promos for the show. I have one task left and this is this morning, I have to go in and work with Jason Gunn and edit one last promo. Its all pretty nerve racking but I very muchly want the job, if I don't get it I guess its back to the drawing board.
Apart from job hunts I have been busy doing stuff for my church like videos, this year my church video load has doubled so rock n roll, its fun and stuff but soon I will be training an aprentice (or Padawan) to do the editing on at least one of the videos so I have more time to do other things. This whole weekend just been I have been doing camera for a mate on his latest film, we got some real epic shots like Michael Bay styles! On the saturday the weather was extremely wet and then on the sunday it was extremely hot and now I'm badly burnt :( It was great fun though :) Thats really all the news this week, stay tunned to find out wether I get that job! Doug's First Post

Hey guys, well here it is the first post of the Doug Royale - I'm no good at writing e-mails so here is something that will hopefully keep u up to date with my latest news. Recently of course things have been rather different than the last three years as I have finished Broadcasting School, yup three years of study over. So what now you ask? Well I'm on the hunt for a job, I had a job interview last Friday which looked to be very good but unfortunately that fell through. However today I got a call and now have another interview with another company, its all rather exciting. Another very cool thing is that I have met a very lovely young lady and she is very cool, her name is Michelle. Apart from that its really just things as usual, am still living in Christchurch and loving it, the garden city is very nice. Oh yes and of course it wouldn't be Doug like without some Bond news so here it goes. The new James Bond film is called Casino Royale, based on the first book which will be awesome and is staring Daniel Craig as James Bond, it looks to be shaping up nicely.
